From 1995 to 2002 Mark's writing consisted of Technical Reports on his research in the aerospace industry where he earned seven patents. If you ever suffer from insomnia, read a patent. Perhaps as a result, Mark took up writing fiction as a diversion. Drawing upon his experience as a research engineer, knowledge of the aerospace industry, and travel to China and France, he wrote Virtual Adrenaline.

About this time Mark began to fight the real life battles of educating his mixed-race special needs son. This inspired the Young Adult Fantasy book Summer Aliens.

While Mark worked on Summer Aliens, he moved to Virginia where the F-22s danced overhead during his daily runs. He polished Virtual Adrenaline with some help from new friends at NASA Langley, but he became homesick for the wilderness and loon song of Michigan. As he dreamed of growing up in Michigan, he wrote The Summer of His Life. A brief summary of each story is on the linked webpages.
