Mark Soderstrom has been a writer since his first story was published in the high school newspaper. Most of his stories have been for his children. Like most writers, Mark writes for fun. However, for someone who runs marathons, teaches martial arts, gets SCUBA certified and works 30 years in the aerospace field, fun is expected to slap you around a bit. Writing has definitely slapped Mark around, but he is still having fun.

Though his engineering degree is not in writing, you might say he received his BS in story telling through attending lectures from his uncles as they sat around the family cottage. He heard amazing tales of the depression, the war, and manly feats of stupidity. He went on to perform his internship in the boundary waters of Minnesota and hunting camps in Michigan and Colorado where each night he was required to weave heroic tales of daring from a day of boring tedium. Catching a single pan fish was expected to entail a nearly severed limb. A tale of actually shooting at something should cause strong women to blanch and men to faint.

He did his post graduate work in “Exaggeration” at the annual deer camp in Michigan. This exclusive training site is “invitation only” and a hunter’s lack of skill in story telling is likely to result in expulsion. After 20 years, he is now training the youngsters.
